Paju Book City will be extended to 471,000 pyŏng which is twice as large as the present area.
Paju-Si announced on July 8th that the Bookcity Cooperative has put in approximately 73,200,000,000 to arrange the development plan of establishing the second phase area on 207,000 pyŏng all over Munbal-ri and Shinchon-ri in Paju-si and applied to Paju-si for the approval.
When the construction begins this October and is completed in the end of 2008, Paju Book City will be the pivot of publishing, in fact as well as in name with the gross area of 471,000 pyŏng.
There will be about 150 companies such as publishing companies, movie allied industries, broadcasting allied industries, software allied industries and so on, in the second phase area.
In the end of 2003, the first phase area was completed and filled with approximately 150 of publishing, printing, and distribution enterprises, as well as the Asia publication Culture and Information Center.
The Paju Book City will act as a central facility for the cultural exchange between south and north Korea, and be the core factor of the East-Asia cultural triangle belt which joins Seoul, Beijng and Tokyo for the 21st century.
